Wayne Biggs is a proven leader with 13 years of governmental experience as a member of the Saraland City Council as well as 38 years of business experience right here in Saraland and Wayne is ready to bring practical, proven solutions to our city government. Wayne is committed to making Saraland a thriving, well-managed city that serves its residents effectively and will focus on transparency, accountability, and open communication with the community.
Wayne's mission is to ensure that the City of Saraland provides superior government services to our citizens while maintaining the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and integrity.
Wayne believes in honesty, transparency, and accountability in all his dealings and will bring that to City Hall when elected. Wayne will strive to build strong relationships with all our citizens by delivering exceptional city services to our constituents.
Born in Chickasaw, Alabama on January 7, 1956, Wayne has spent most of his life as a resident of Saraland. A 1974 graduate of Satsuma High School, Wayne went on to attend the University of Southern Mississippi majoring in Music Education.
In 1976, Wayne began a career in sales that would see him gain many valuable life and business experiences while living and working first in Mobile; then Birmingham and Montgomery, AL; Panama City Beach, FL; and Knoxville, TN before returning home in 1987 to found his own company – Azalea Coffee Service, Inc. – which is still based and operating from its offices in Saraland today. Over the years, Wayne has been active as a Little League baseball coach and as a “baseball, softball, volleyball, soccer, and band parent/grandparent.
Locally, Wayne and his wife Martha are active members of Destination Church. Wayne and Martha are the proud parents of four children: Michael (Heidi) Biggs of Mobile; Carmen (Joey) Lloyd of Saraland; Matthew (Cristy) Biggs of Coronado, California; and Mallorie Warren of Saraland. They are the proud grandparents of seven beautiful and intelligent granddaughters: Victoria, Andie, Hailey, Khloe, Sofia, Harlee, and Alia.
Wayne returned to school in 2020 at the age of 64 and earned an Associate Degree in Science from Coastal Alabama Community College graduating Phi Theta Kappa. In September 2022, Wayne enrolled at the University of South Alabama, graduating Summa Cum Laude in December 2024 with a Bachelor Degree in Science and as USA’s first graduate in its new College of Education degree program in Organizational Leadership.
Wayne is a member of Keep Saraland Beautiful, and his company, Azalea Coffee Service, Inc. is both a member of the Saraland Area Chamber of Commerce and a sponsor of a Keep Saraland Beautiful Adopt-A-Spot. Wayne was elected to the City Council in August 2012 and reelected in 2016, and 2020, serving as Council Vice-President from 2016-2020. Wayne has served as the City Council representative to the Saraland Planning Commission since 2012 and has been a member of the Mobile County Republican Executive Committee since 2014.
On the state level, Wayne has served as the chairman of the Alabama League of Municipalities Committee on Community & Economic Development after serving the prior two years as Vice-Chairman.
Additionally, he also now serves on the ALM Committee on State and Federal Legislation. Wayne is a past member of the Alabama State Republican Executive Committee.
